On reading about the Joe Cell it said that he adjusted the timing closer to top dead center which would be retarding the sparkng. This was due to hydrogen already being a gas and gasoline is a vapor when it enters the cylinder. And hydrogen burns faster.This engine with a carburator. Also it was said by another video that retarding the spark made it more efficient. Also to avoid a backfire from the carburator. In fuel injected enginese possibility of a backfire is not expected.
