Does anyone know if the big 3 U S auto makers are working on this. It seems to me that since they are loosing their shirts on their 'gas guzzlers' they would welcome this new technology (besides they have more $$$ to spend on R&D).

Everything I have seen so far is typical.... Thinking too hard and not simple.... Utilizing liquid hydrogen to power a cell that converts gas back into water while developing electricity to run an electric motor... Failure to use hydrogen gas to burn in engine as a booster or as a soul source....

A recent article in the papers told how the federal transportation department was requesting 9 billion dollars for the highway fund that sends mony out to the states for road improvement. Since the higher price for gas people we driving less and the federal gas taxes generated decrease and thereby is why they wanted the money to come from somewhere.

If the car manufacturers made cars that all got no less than 35 mpg the loose of gas tax revenue would stop cold any highway improvements.

The federal government probably would not let too many high mpg car to be manufactured at one time by more than one company at a time.
